A family, a garden, and rather too many birds.

We keep chickens and quail in an ordinary back garden in Yorkshire, and we film it. There is no smallholding, no acreage and no formal training — just a family who got a few hens and kept going.

Why we write the guides

When we started, most of what we found online was either a forum thread from 2009 or an American site describing a climate nothing like ours. So we write down what actually happened here, including the parts we got wrong. If a guide says we made a mistake, we made it.

The animals

Every bird and dog on this site is one of ours. They each have a page because people who watch the channel already know them by name and there was nowhere to go and look at them.
